Sustainable building engineering – get the “Green House” certificate

Currently, in the times of crisis in which our world finds itself, a lot is said about sustainable development and production. We are becoming more and more aware, and we know that if we do not propose appropriate solutions that will improve the condition of the environment, we will lead to a real threat to the possibility of meeting the needs of future generations. This topic is also discussed in the construction industry – the “Green House” certificate has been introduced to the Polish market, which distinguishes investments with high quality and energy efficiency in terms of ecology.

This certificate was introduced by the Polish Green Building Association PLGBC – this organization has been fulfilling the mission of improving the design, construction and use of buildings for over 10 years. This is a real step forward in the transformation of Polish residential construction. It is the first Polish multi-criteria certificate.

What should a green house be like?

A sustainable building is one that was built with respect for the natural environment, it is economical and comfortable. The design and construction of such facilities is not only about proper water management or high energy efficiency. A green house also brings a number of benefits for the people living in it – it guarantees access to daylight, provides an appropriate level of acoustic and thermal comfort, excellent ventilation and is distinguished by a low rate of air pollution.

The main assumption for creating the “Green House” certification was to create a simple and transparent tool, with an appropriate set of criteria in the field of sustainable building engineering. This allows the entire process to be carried out efficiently, at every stage of certification.

Who is the “Green House” certificate for?

Only newly constructed residential, single-family and multi-family buildings are subject to certification. Therefore, not only developers can apply for a certificate, but also private investors who plan to build a house.

If someone is planning obtaining the certification, they should start it at a very early stage – preferably when choosing a location, because not only the construction process itself is assessed, but also many other criteria, such as construction site or project preparation. Early certification process increases the chance of meeting many different requirements, and thus the chance of being assessed at a sufficiently high level. Of course, the investment project can be submitted at a more advanced stage, but the number of criteria does not change.

Accredited auditors who initiate, report and implement system requirements are responsible for the Green House certification. They are also responsible for optimizing solutions in order to achieve the highest possible level of certification.

Is it worth having the “Green House” certificate?

Certification of residential buildings seems to be particularly important from the developer’s point of view. The investment, which received the “Green House” certificate, becomes a prestigious facility, as this distinction has become a synonym for high quality. For buyers, it is also information that the maintenance costs of such a building are much lower and the investment will bring them long-term financial, environmental and health benefits.
